The page starts off with the typical 37 Signals light blue background. All good so far. Navigation is next. Not really much to say about this one, pretty nice rollovers though. A little farther down comes the logo, and I really really like it. Actually I never seen (before now) that the tentacle thing actually was a rail. What a pleasant surprise. Next to the logo is the “welcome text”, which briefly explains what Rails is all about.
After the ‘top’ comes the persuading. It’s 4 images with some simple text #1 Get excited #2 Get started #3 Get better and lastly #4 Get involved
Of course before using their product, we want to know what it’s all about (#1). After we have been convinced, we want to start using it (#2). After we have gotten a little used to it, we wan’t to get better (#3). and lastly, after we have loved for some time, we wan’t to help contribute to the community (#4). Really clever if you ask me.
“After the initial persuading comes some more persuading, in the form of quotes. Really nicely formatted quotes, and they even change automatically and sexy, too!”
The rest of the page is “just” some more text about Ruby on Rails, nothing ‘special’ here.
As I guess you have figured out by now, I really like the Ruby website. It looks good, it uses great typography, colors are great, it’s clever and best of all, everything is center aligned.
